Dr. Frauke von Rohden is a Research Fellow at the Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture – Simon Dubnow in Leipzig, Germany, where she has served as a Research Associate on the Academy Project »European Traditions – Encyclopedia of Jewish Cultures« since 2007. Previously, she held research positions at the University of Tübingen (2002-2005) and the Freie Universität Berlin (2005-2007).
She completed her studies in ethnology and Jewish studies at institutions in Berlin, Jerusalem, and Ghana between 1986 and 1997. Her work significantly contributes to the understanding of Jewish women's history and early modern Jewish history in Eastern Europe.
Her publications from 2001 to 2012 demonstrate consistent engagement with Jewish historical events, especially the Khmelnytsky massacres, and Jewish women's literature. She has authored the monograph »Meneket Rivkah« (2009) and contributed to major reference works including the Encyclopaedia Judaica, YIVO Encyclopedia, and Encyclopedia of Jewish History and Culture, revealing interdisciplinary trends spanning historiography, gender studies, and literary analysis.
