Fraser Collins is a Versus Arthritis Career Development Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, affiliated with the Rheumatology Research Group within the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. His research centers on synovial fibroblast biology and the molecular regulation of fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS), critical for joint health and arthritis pathology.
Using cutting-edge methodologies such as single-cell omics, 3D organoid cultures, and preclinical models, Collins investigates how FLS differentiation and maintenance become dysregulated in joint injury and arthritis. His work intersects molecular biology, cell biology, and translational medicine.
- Key Research Areas: Synovial fibroblasts, arthritis, cellular differentiation, single-cell omics
- Technology Expertise: Single-cell RNA sequencing, organoid systems, preclinical arthritis models
Collaborations include partnerships with researchers from the University of Michigan, Washington University, and Michigan State University. Scientific awards include the Versus Arthritis Career Development Fellowship. His recent publications highlight advancements in understanding FLS heterogeneity, osteophyte formation in osteoarthritis, and microbiome-bone density interactions.
