Cosimo De Bari

Cosimo De Bari is Professor and Chair of Rheumatology at the University of Edinburgh, serving as lead Principal Investigator of the Rheumatology Research Group within the Institute of Genetics and Cancer. He is an affiliate of the Centre for Regenerative Medicine at the Institute for Regeneration and Repair and Deputy Director of the Versus Arthritis Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Therapies Centre, a multi-institutional UK collaboration advancing osteoarthritis research.

His research spans discovery science, translational studies, and clinical investigations focused on joint homeostasis, repair mechanisms, and arthritis pathogenesis. Scientific themes include skeletal biology, synovium dynamics, stem cell applications, cartilage regeneration, and targeted therapeutic development. Disease emphases cover rheumatic disorders, osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthritis, and vasculitis with clinical work prioritizing early detection, patient stratification, and personalized medicine approaches.
