Dr. Franziska Viertel is a Researcher at Paderborn University's Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Institute for German Studies and Comparative Literature. Her work focuses on child language acquisition and socio-cognitive development, particularly examining how shyness and autism spectrum disorders influence learning trajectories.
Education:
- PhD from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (2013-2019), funded by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung scholarship. Dissertation: "Training of visual perspective taking (Level 1) through role-reversal imitation in 18-20-month-olds with consideration of shyness as a temperament trait".
Research Focus: She investigates language development (abstract concepts, robot-assisted word learning, deixis) and socio-cognition (perspective taking, theory of mind), emphasizing heterogeneous developmental patterns in autism and shyness. Her work integrates linguistics, psychology, and educational technology, notably using social robots to study child-robot interactions.
