Franziska Meinherz is a Research Fellow at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), affiliated with the Department of Science, Technology and Society within the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology. She is a core member of the “Transforming Mobility and Society” (TraMS) Lab, linked to the Munich Cluster for the Future of Mobility in Metropolitan Regions (MCube). Her research focuses on urban mobility practices and politics, including spatial configurations of mobility, everyday experiences of movement, and experimental policy approaches such as those observed during the pandemic.
Education: Franziska holds a PhD in Environmental Sociology from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and completed her studies in Sociology, Economics, and Sustainability Sciences across multiple institutions, including the Universities of Geneva, Boston, Bergen, the New University of Lisbon, and Radboud University.
Research Interests: Her work bridges sociological and urban planning perspectives, emphasizing how mobility practices intersect with spatial design and policy interventions. She explores how urban environments shape mobility behaviors and how crises like the pandemic accelerate experimental governance models in mobility.
Professional Engagement: Franziska is active on Twitter and ResearchGate, contributing to academic and public discourse on mobility studies. She participates in interdisciplinary collaborations through the TraMS Lab, advancing research on sustainable and equitable urban mobility systems.
