Franziska Israel serves as a Scientific Associate in the Institute of Mathematics at the University of Potsdam's Faculty of Science. She has been in a part-time secondment position at the university since 2020 while maintaining her role as a mathematics and physics teacher at Einstein-Gymnasium in Potsdam since 2018.
Her professional focus centers on mathematics didactics and teacher education. She participates in the Working Group on Mentor Qualification Education for Sustainable Development and supervises school internships including SPS and practical semesters. Her work bridges theoretical mathematics education research with practical classroom application.
Dr. Israel completed her teacher education for secondary schools with a Master of Education degree in Mathematics/Physics between 2011-2016. Her professional journey includes teacher training at Humboldt-Gymnasium (2017-2018) and substitute teaching positions at Lenné Comprehensive School and Helmholtz Gymnasium in 2016.
She is actively involved in the Didactics of Mathematics working group under Prof. Dr. Ulrich Kortenkamp, contributing to initiatives such as the "AI meets mathematics teaching" workshop and the "Thinking Classroom" in mathematics lessons program.
