Franziska Degé is a Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in the Music Department. Her research examines musical development across the lifespan, cognitive transfer effects of music training, and relationships between musical engagement and social behavior.
Her work investigates how rhythm processing relates to executive functions, how music training influences cognitive development in children, and how musical activities promote prosocial behavior. Recent studies focus on developing assessment tools for musicality and examining developmental trajectories of consonance perception.
Degé's research program combines experimental methods with longitudinal designs to explore music's role in cognitive, social, and emotional development. She has published extensively on music's cognitive transfer effects and developmental aspects of musical abilities.
