Franziska Brauneck

Franziska Brauneck serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology at the University of Hamburg's Faculty of Medicine, where she works within the Center for Oncology and II. Medical Clinic and Polyclinic at Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Her clinical expertise spans Hematology and Oncology with proficiency in both German and English.

Dr. Brauneck's research focuses on cancer immunology, particularly investigating immune checkpoint mechanisms including TIGIT, CD39/CD73 pathways, and macrophage polarization in hematological malignancies and solid tumors. Her work examines T cell exhaustion, tumor microenvironment interactions, and novel immunotherapeutic approaches targeting AML, ovarian cancer, and bone metastases. Recent publications demonstrate her leadership in understanding how immune checkpoint blockade can enhance anti-tumor immunity through macrophage repolarization and phagocytosis.

Her significant contributions to the field have been recognized with prestigious awards including the ASH Poster Award 2024, Hubertus Wald Young Investigators Award 2022, and DGHO Poster Award 2022. She also received funding through the Mildred-Scheel-Nachwuchszentrum Förderprogramm HaTRiCS and José Carreras-DGHO-Promotionsstipendium.
