Frank de Jonge was affiliated with the Department of Classics at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin as part of the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship. His research focused on Aristotle's conceptualization of moral agency through a biological lens, examining shared mechanisms of action between humans and animals. He investigated how physiological processes influence the realization of human behavior distinct from animal behavior.
His project explored Aristotle’s biological works to understand intelligence in animals and the physiological conditions necessary for achieving human moral agency. While at Humboldt University, he contributed to interdisciplinary discussions on ethics, biology, and classical philosophy.
