Frank Rennie

Frank Rennie is a Professor of Sustainable Rural Development and Head of Research and Postgraduate Development at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), affiliated with the Institute for Northern Studies. His work focuses on rural and community development, particularly the impact of ICT and online learning in rural contexts, and the relationship between nature conservation and human communities. He is a founding president of the Scottish Crofters Union and a pioneer in online education.

Research interests include rural policy, digital learning systems, and the socioecological dynamics of remote regions. His contributions span case studies in Scotland, Bhutan, and other global regions.
