معرفی
Prof. Frank Müller is a Professor at the Institute of Biological Information Processing (IBI-1) at Forschungszentrum Jülich. His research focuses on retinal physiology, degeneration mechanisms, and development of retinal implants. He investigates how pathological activity in degenerated retinas impacts electrical stimulation efficacy, aiming to improve prosthetic therapies via pharmacological interventions. Key projects include collaboration with engineers to design bidirectional retinal implants and study oscillatory activity in rodent models like rd10 mice and RCS rats.
Research interests include retinal network function, neuronal information processing, and translational therapies for blindness. His work combines electrophysiology, molecular biology, and engineering to address challenges in retinal prosthetics. Collaborations involve teams from Jülich and external institutions focusing on retinal degeneration models and drug development.
Labs/Teams: Leads the 'Anatomy and physiology of the retina in health and disease' group, collaborating with researchers like Dr. Raul E. Guzman (Cellular Neurophysiology) and Prof. Patricia Hidalgo (Calcium Channel Biology). Ongoing projects include optimizing retinal stimulation techniques and elucidating molecular pathways in retinal degeneration.
