Frank Geels is a Professor of System Innovation and Sustainability at the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester (UK). He has held previous academic roles at the University of Sussex, Brunel University, and Eindhoven University of Technology. Elected as a member of the Academy of Europe in 2015, his research focuses on socio-technical transitions to address sustainability challenges in energy, transport, and agro-food systems. Geels co-developed the Multi-Level Perspective (MLP), analyzing interactions between technological innovations (niches), established systems (regimes), and external influences (landscapes). His work emphasizes large-scale systemic change through interdisciplinary frameworks.
