Frank Durham is an Associate Professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Iowa, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on journalism history and media framing analysis, with a background in strategic communications. He teaches courses in journalism history, strategic communication, and cultural satire.
Education: Ph.D. in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1993).
Research Interests: Durham’s work examines media ritual theory, historical media practices, and the intersection of media with social movements, governance, and cultural narratives. Notable themes include framing analysis of crisis events, media representation of marginalized groups, and the evolution of journalistic institutions.
