Frank Demmler is an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Donald H. Jones Center for Entrepreneurship within the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. He has held this role since 1987 and transitioned to full-time faculty in 2003. His professional experience includes roles as Vice President of Innovation Works, Managing Director of Riverfront Venture Fund, and leadership positions in multiple seed funds. Demmler holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University (1971), an MBA from UCLA (1973), and postgraduate studies in marketing from Harvard Business School (1973-1975).
Research interests focus on entrepreneurship, venture capital, and startup financing. Notable publications include works on private investor dynamics and venture capital strategies. He has advised over 200 companies across $500M+ in investments, specializing in deal structures, valuation, and fundraising.
Recipient of the Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association's Lifetime Achievement Award (2011) and Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist (1998). Teaches courses like 'Funding Early Stage Ventures' and 'Entrepreneurial Management', emphasizing practical applications of financial strategies in startup ecosystems.
Active in regional innovation networks, Demmler collaborates with organizations like Innovation Works and the Pittsburgh Digital Greenhouse. His work bridges academic theory with real-world entrepreneurial challenges, focusing on sustainable growth models and investor dynamics.
