Frank Cormier is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Arts. Since 1995, he has taught sociology and criminology courses, including SOC 2510 (Criminology), SOC 2610 (Sociology of Criminal Justice and Corrections), and SOC 3100 (Practicum in Criminological/Sociological Research). He has extensive experience in applied justice work, including roles as an independent justice consultant and senior associate at a private-sector research firm, before returning to the university full-time in 2003 as Criminology/Sociology Research Practicum Coordinator.

His research focuses include the Canadian criminal justice system, policing practices, and alternative justice methods. Cormier emphasizes public sociology through active engagement with First Nations communities and media commentary on criminal justice issues. He has collaborated with organizations such as Justice Canada, Correctional Service of Canada, and Winnipeg Police Service on evaluation projects.
