Francois Tardif is a Professor in the Department of Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph, part of the Ontario Agricultural College. His research focuses on herbicide resistance in weeds, including mechanisms, diagnostics, and management strategies. He holds degrees from Laval University (B.Sc.A, M.Sc., Ph.D.).
Research interests include understanding resistance mutations' fitness effects, developing diagnostic tools, and creating sustainable management programs. His work spans species like Amaranthus, Ambrosia, and Conyza, addressing issues such as glyphosate resistance in giant ragweed and cross-resistance in common ragweed.
Key publications explore herbicide resistance mechanisms, crop-weed interactions, and integrated pest management. Notable studies include investigations into MCPA resistance in Amaranthus powellii and glyphosate-resistant giant ragweed's distribution in Ontario. His research bridges molecular biology and agronomic practices to address global agricultural challenges.
