Francois Questiaux

Francois Questiaux is a Research Fellow (Postdoc) at the Department of Food and Resource Economics, University of Copenhagen, where he also completes his PhD. His work examines social dynamics and resource access in West Africa, focusing on Burkina Faso and Ghana.

His research spans Development Studies, Agrarian Change, and Natural Resource Management, employing ethnographic methods to analyze marginalized groups—particularly shea nut collectors—through lenses of capitalist relations, social differentiation, and gender dynamics.

Recent publications (2024-2025) concentrate on shea nut value chains, revealing class struggles, household strategies, and conflicts over tree access. He integrates participatory approaches like photovoice and has contributed to critical discourse on racism in academia through an open letter to the University of Copenhagen.
