معرفی
Francois Holtz is a Professor of Petrology at Leibniz University of Hannover since 1996. He holds a Dr. rer. nat. in Geology from Université de Nancy I, France (1987). His academic career spans postdoctoral and research positions at institutions including the University of Hannover (1987–1989, 1989–1991), CNRS (1991–1996), and his current role since 1996.
- Education:
- 1983: DEA Geology, Université de Nancy I, France
- 1987: Dr. rer. nat., Université de Nancy I, France
Research Interests: Holtz's work focuses on experimental petrology and geochemistry, particularly phase relationships in silicate systems, formation of continental and oceanic crust, volatiles in melts, and high-pressure high-temperature techniques. His expertise includes studying magmatic and volcanic systems, metal distribution in melts, and applied research on ore deposits.
Recent Publications: His recent work explores sulfur isotope partitioning, volatile solubility in mafic melts, rhyolite genesis, subduction-zone CO2 budgets, and planetary magmatism. These studies emphasize experimental approaches and implications for geobarometry, mantle dynamics, and planetary differentiation.
Scientific Awards:
- Abraham Gottlob Werner Medal (2013)
- Fellow of the Mineralogical Society of America (2013)
Leadership Roles: Holtz served as President and Vice-President of the German Mineralogical Society (DMG), Vice-President of the German Association of Earth Science Societies (Dachverband-Geo), and Head of the Institute of Mineralogy at Leibniz University of Hannover. He also chaired professor recruitment committees and participated in student affairs committees.
Research Teams and Programs: He led graduate schools like "Geofluxes" (2012–2016), "Forschungsinitiative Geoprozessforschung" (2008–2013), and "FI:Geo" (since 2013). His team specializes in experimental petrology, melt-fluid interactions, and high-pressure techniques.
