Franco Ferrari is the Clarence D. Ashley Professor of Law and Director of the Intesa Sanpaolo Center for Transnational Litigation, Arbitration, and Commercial Law at New York University School of Law. He joined NYU's full-time faculty in 2010 after serving as a chaired professor at Verona University (2002–2016), Tilburg University (1995–1998), and the University of Bologna (1998–2002). His academic career includes roles as a Legal Officer at the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs (2000–2002) and member of the Italian delegation to UNCITRAL (1995–2000).

Research focuses on Comparative Law, Conflict of Laws, Forum Shopping, International Commercial Arbitration, and International Commercial Law. He has authored over 380 articles and 50 books, with recent works emphasizing arbitration systematization and transnational legal frameworks. Editor-in-chief of European International Arbitration Review (2016–2019) and serves on multiple law journal editorial boards.
Teaching includes courses on Comparative Contract Law, Forum Shopping, International Arbitration, and UN Sales Convention applications. Active in international arbitration practice and dispute resolution policy.
