Franco Berruti is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Western University. He earned his Ph.D. (1986) and M.A.Sc. (1983) at the University of Waterloo and a Dott.Ing. (1982) from Politecnico of Torino. He served as Dean of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan (1996-2000) and Western University (2000-2008), and is the Founding Director of the Institute for Chemicals and Fuels from Alternative Resources (ICFAR).

Collaborations include Cedric Briens and Charles Xu (Western), Murray Gray (University of Alberta), and institutions across Italy, the Netherlands, UK, and Canada.
Labs & Teams: As Founding Director of ICFAR, he leads a research institute with off-campus facilities for pilot-scale experimentation. His team investigates thermochemical conversion technologies and industrial applications of fluidized bed reactors.
