Franck VALLERUGO

Franck VALLERUGO is a Teaching Professor at ESSEC Business School, specializing in urban planning and territorial development within the Law, Political Science & Society department at the Cergy Campus. He has been with ESSEC since 1997, progressing from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and currently serving as Teaching Professor since 2009.

His research interests focus on urban planning, territorial competitiveness, urban marketing, and the relationship between businesses and territories. VALLERUGO's work examines how cities can develop competitive advantages through strategic planning and marketing approaches, with particular attention to metropolitan governance and sustainable urban development.

His publication trends show consistent engagement with urban development topics, particularly through his long-running 'Collection: Essec Cities and Territories' (2011-2022). His work spans theoretical frameworks in urban marketing to practical applications in territorial competitiveness and corporate territorial responsibility, with notable contributions to understanding the Grand Paris project and large-scale urban developments like Europa City.

VALLERUGO has served in significant academic leadership roles, including Head of the CEETRUS URBAN PLANNING AND COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE department (2020-2022) and currently as Head of the Urban Economy Chair (2023-2024). Through his work with the scientific councils of Energie et Territoire (EDF) and Europacity Consulting, he bridges academic research with practical urban development challenges.

His international engagement includes providing urban planning assistance for new cities in Morocco (Mohamed VI in Benguerir and Plage des Nations in Rabat-Salé), demonstrating the global applicability of his research frameworks.
