Franck Aggeri serves as Professor of Management at CGS-i3* of Mines Paris – PSL, where he conducts research on responsible innovation and the circular economy. He additionally holds leadership positions as co-director of the SDOSE** doctoral school at PSL and co-director of the urban mining chair dedicated to circular economy research.
His academic journey began at ENS Paris-Saclay where he studied economics and management. He earned his doctoral thesis in management sciences at École des Mines de Paris, followed by an Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches (HDR) at Paris Dauphine University. From 2007 to 2013, he directed the Centre de Gestion Scientifique (CGS) of École des Mines, and from 2012 to 2015, he led the Economics, Management, and Society department (EMS).
Aggeri's research critically examines innovation paradigms and sustainable economic systems, with particular focus on how technological and managerial innovations intersect with ecological and social challenges. His work challenges conventional wisdom about innovation as an unqualified good, exploring its paradoxical relationship with contemporary crises.
His recent publications demonstrate a clear research trajectory focused on systemic economic thinking. The 2023 works analyze innovation culture's limitations and propose circular economy frameworks as alternatives to linear production models. These publications reflect his interdisciplinary approach that bridges management theory, economic philosophy, and environmental sustainability.
Beyond his academic appointments, Aggeri contributes to public discourse as a columnist for Alternatives Économiques, where he translates complex economic concepts for broader audiences. His work with the urban mining chair represents practical application of his theoretical research, addressing resource scarcity through innovative circular approaches.
CGS-i3 (Centre de Gestion Scientifique), where Aggeri is based, functions as a joint research unit (UMR CNRS 9217) that brings together researchers from multiple disciplines to examine organizational, economic, and societal challenges through critical theoretical lenses.
