Francisco Peixoto

Francisco Peixoto is a Full Professor at ISPA - University Institute, where he teaches Educational Psychology, Learning, Motivation, and Research Methodology at undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels. He has coordinated the Center for Educational Research and currently leads EDUNOVA.ISPA, focusing on national and European-funded research projects. His work explores affective components of learning, teacher resilience, and socio-psychological processes.

His research interests include

• Self-concept development during adolescence
• Teacher professional identity and well-being
• Longitudinal impacts of classroom support

Recent publications highlight cross-cultural collaborations and themes like parental influence on math motivation, expectancy-value theory validation, and grade retention effectiveness. He supervises current PhD students investigating ethnic identity, health education, vocational motivation, and teacher-student motivational interplay, with alumni completing work on autonomy promotion and initial teacher training.

External collaborations span institutions in Serbia, Finland, Australia, Italy, UK, Greece, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Belgium, and Chile, reflecting his international research network.
