Francisco Encinas-Viso

Dr. Francisco Encinas-Viso is a Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO's National Research Collections Australia, based at the Australian National Herbarium. He serves as Team Leader of the Species Interactions & Community Ecology Team and has held continuous research positions at CSIRO since 2013, including OCE Postdoctoral Fellow (2013-2016) and Research Scientist (2016-present).

His academic foundation includes a PhD in Ecology and Evolution from the University of Groningen (2013), a Top Master in Evolutionary Biology from the same institution (2008), and undergraduate studies in Biology with Ecology specialization from Universidad Central de Venezuela (2005).

Dr. Encinas-Viso's research integrates Ecological and evolutionary modelling with empirical studies in Population genetics and Pollination ecology. His work critically examines Community ecology dynamics through the lenses of Life Histories, Population Ecology, and Global Change Biology, addressing urgent questions in Evolutionary Biology under anthropogenic pressures.

His scientific recognition includes:

• Marco Polo Travel Grant (University of Groningen)

He has secured significant research funding including leadership of the Envinronomics FSP project "Metagenomics of Plant-Pollinator Networks" (2017-2019), GISERA Queensland Project Grant (2017-2018), and CSIRO Future Science Platform Environomics project (2017-2019), alongside partnership grants with Western Sydney University and CBA Training Support for specialized workshops. His mentorship extends through co-organizing the NRCA Vacation Scholarship Program (2018-2019).

As leader of the Species Interactions & Community Ecology Team, he directs research on ecological network resilience and species coexistence mechanisms within Australia's national biodiversity collections.
