Francisco Doblas-Reyes

Francisco J. Doblas-Reyes is a Research Professor at the Institució Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avançats (ICREA) and Director of the Earth Sciences Department at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) since November 2014. Previously, he led the Climate Forecasting Unit at the Institut Català de Ciències del Clima (IC3) from 2010 to 2015. His academic career spans institutions including the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), CNRM (Météo-France), and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Scientific awards include the Mumm-Gerbier Prize (2006) and membership in the Real Academia de Artes y Ciencias de Barcelona (2019).

Prof. Doblas-Reyes supervises a multidisciplinary team of 30+ researchers, engineers, and students at BSC, which hosts over 170 scientists working on climate and air quality. He coordinates two collaborative European projects and multiple national research contracts, leveraging competitive computing and financial resources.
