Francisca Comas Rubí

Dr. Francisca Comas Rubí is a Full Professor of Theory and History of Education at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), holding leadership roles as Director of the Department of Pedagogy and Specific Didactics. She holds a PhD in Educational Sciences (2000) and has been recognized for exceptional teaching and research performance over multiple evaluation periods. Her research focuses on the history of education in contemporary Spain, particularly childhood and youth studies, educational reform movements, and the use of photography in historical research. She leads the History of Education Study Group (IRIE-UIB).

Academic roles include Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Education and Deputy Director of ICE and IRIE. Current teaching responsibilities span undergraduate and postgraduate programs: 'Evolution and Consolidation of Education Systems' in the Pedagogy Degree, and specialized master's courses like 'Access to Education and Community Development' (Psychoeducational Research) and 'Latest Contributions to the History of Families and Childhood in Europe' (Socio-educational Intervention).

Research leadership includes five principal investigator roles in R+D+i projects since 2007, focusing on photography as a historical source (HUM2007-61420, EDU2011-23831, EDU2014-52498), school practice (EDU2017-82485-P), and public history of education (PID2020-113677GB-I00). Her work has produced impactful publications in high-impact journals like History of Education and Revista Española de Pedagogía.
