Francis Motta

Francis Motta is Associate Professor in FAU's Department of Mathematics and Statistics. He obtained his Ph.D. from Colorado State University in 2014, specializing in computational topology and dynamical systems.

Research integrates:

• Topological methods with machine learning
• Mathematical biology of infectious diseases
• Spatiotemporal analysis of complex systems

Publications demonstrate novel applications of persistent homology to biological systems, particularly malaria pathogenesis and protein folding dynamics. Recent work establishes coupling between parasite replication cycles and host circadian rhythms.

Active in interdisciplinary collaborations with biologists and computational scientists. Research supported by grants focused on developing topological algorithms for biological data analysis.
