Francis Brown is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and a Senior Research Fellow at All Souls College since 2015. His academic journey includes postdoctoral roles at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (CNRS), the Mittag-Leffler Institute, and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics. He completed his PhD at the École Normale Supérieure and Université de Bordeaux, following undergraduate studies at the University of Cambridge.
His research focuses on arithmetic geometry and quantum field theory, exploring connections between number theory, algebraic geometry, and mathematical physics. Notable contributions include work on motives, multiple zeta values, and Feynman integrals.
Academic honors include the CNRS Bronze Medal (2012), Prix Elie Cartan (2012), and ERC Starting Grant (2010). His research output spans foundational papers in Annals of Mathematics, Inventiones Mathematicae, and Duke Mathematical Journal.
