Dr. Francis Allard is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Geospatial and Earth Sciences at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), within the Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. His research focuses on East Asian archaeology, including early complex societies, nomadic pastoralist societies, and imperial peripheries. He has conducted extensive fieldwork in China, Vietnam, and Mongolia, with ongoing projects examining China's imperial expansion during the second century BCE-CE and the development of bronze metallurgy in southern China and northern Vietnam.
Dr. Allard holds degrees in anthropology, biology, and museum studies. He teaches courses on Biological Anthropology, China's culture and archaeology, Language and Culture, and human evolution. He has led multiple academic trips to Asia with IUP students, integrating field experience into his teaching.
