Dr. Francien Chenoweth Richardson is a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology and Counseling at Immaculata University. She holds a Psy.D. and M.A. from Immaculata University, and an M.A., B.S., and B.A. from East Stroudsburg University. Dr. Richardson maintains an active private practice and founded the nonprofit Diaspora Women for Change, which combats gender-based violence in Liberia and immigrant communities.
Her research focuses on:
- Cross-cultural psychology and multicultural counseling
- Trauma, aggression, and post-conflict recovery
- Social psychology and gender-based violence prevention
At Immaculata, she founded the Psychology and Counseling Department Student Diversity Forum and teaches doctoral courses including:
- Human Diversity Counseling
- Clinical Supervision and Consultation
- Social Psychology
- Counseling Theories and Techniques
Dr. Richardson is the only female panelist on SpoonTV (Liberia), advocating against gender-based violence. She organized civil-education programs in Liberia and was honored by the Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission for her diaspora contributions.
