Francesco Torre is a researcher at CIC energiGUNE, affiliated with the Solid-State Chemical Reactions group within the Thermal Energy Storage Area. He holds a Master’s Degree in Chemistry (2016) from the University of Sassari and a PhD in Innovation Sciences and Technologies from the University of Cagliari.
Research Interests:
- Synthesis of nanostructured materials via mechanochemical routes
- Microstructural evolution of metastable materials
- Thermodynamics and kinetics of solid-solid and gas-solid transformations
- Coarsening-resistant nanocrystalline alloys
- Radiation-tolerant materials for aerospace applications
Scientific Contributions: Co-author of a patent on a catalytic system for hydrogen production from plastic materials. Presented research at the European Hydrogen Energy Conference on MnFe2O4-Na2CO3 thermochemical cycles for hydrogen production. Worked on coarsening-resistant alloys during his PhD, including collaborations with the University of Southampton and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
His publications and conference presentations focus on nanomaterials, thermodynamics, and aerospace applications.

Collaborations & Projects: Involved in the European H2020 FET-OPEN ICARUS project and the CRM–Extreme framework, studying critical raw materials for extreme applications.
