Francesco Luigi Gatta

Dr. Francesco Luigi Gatta serves as Professor of EU Law at the University of Tuscia and Research Fellow at Université Catholique de Louvain. Holding a double PhD in EU Law from the Universities of Padova and Innsbruck, his research examines international and European Union law with emphasis on human rights, migration, asylum, and border controls.

His publications demonstrate consistent focus on migration governance frameworks, human rights protections in crisis situations, and legal intersections between international organizations. Recent works analyze humanitarian evacuations in Libya, social media's impact on human rights litigation, and cooperative mechanisms between the African Union, EU, and UN.

Dr. Gatta has held visiting positions at the European University Institute and completed traineeships at the European Parliament Legal Service and Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.
