Francesco CASTELLANETA is a Professor in Strategy and Entrepreneurship at SKEMA Business School, France, where he has been serving since 2017. He also holds significant leadership roles including Director of the Skema PhD - Management Specialization and UCA JEDI Chair of Excellence. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor in Strategy and Entrepreneurship at Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics, Portugal (2011-2017). His academic affiliations include the PhD Program at LUMSA and Italian National Research Council, and he was an International Faculty Fellow at MIT Sloan School of Management in 2014.
Professor CASTELLANETA earned his HDR in management sciences from Côte d'Azur University (2019), PhD in Business Administration and Management from Bocconi University, Italy (2011), and BSc from Bocconi University, Italy (2004). His educational background reflects a strong foundation in business administration with a focus on strategic management and entrepreneurship.
His research spans multiple domains including entrepreneurship, private equity, gender pay gap, social innovation, and intellectual property. He investigates how institutions lowering barriers to entrepreneurship affect female workers, the impact of theatrical activities on prison inmates' social skills, and the relationship between digital distance and bodily presence in hybrid teaching. His work often examines the nuanced effects of policies and practices on organizational outcomes, revealing both intended and unintended consequences across various contexts.
His publication record demonstrates consistent high-quality output in top-tier journals including Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, and Journal of Business Ethics.
