معرفی
Francesco Bertazzi serves as a Full Professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (DET) at Polytechnic University of Turin, where he leads research in advanced optoelectronic devices and semiconductor physics. He is a member of the Interdepartmental Center Photonext and serves as Academic Advisor for the Master's degree programme in Nanotechnologies for ICTs.
His research spans light emitting diodes, optoelectronics, photodetectors, quantum field theory, and vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs). Bertazzi's work focuses on efficiency and reliability of visible/UV LEDs, far-infrared image sensor design, full-band Monte Carlo electron transport simulation, multiphysics CAD of VCSELs, and multiscale physics-based modeling of optoelectronic devices. His ERC-recognized expertise covers micro/nano electronics, optoelectronic components, and electronic properties of materials.
Current research projects include T2SLMWIR (computationally guided design of T2SL MWIR photodetectors) and PULSAR (UV LED technologies for high-efficiency disinfection). His publications demonstrate consistent focus on quantum transport modeling, semiconductor device physics, and advanced optoelectronic systems.
Bertazzi actively supervises PhD students including Lorenzo Miri (UV-LED research), Martino D'Alessandro (VCSEL modeling), and Francesco Mercinelli (InGaN solar cells). He teaches graduate courses on optoelectronic device analysis using Green's function theory and semiconductor device CAD. As part of the Microwave and Optoelectronics Group (MOG), he contributes to collaborative research initiatives including the CRA for MultiScale Modeling of Electronic materials (2011-2021).
