Francesca Truffa is an Assistant Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. Her research focuses on labor economics, innovation, and gender diversity, with emphasis on entrepreneurship, inequality, and policy interventions. She holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University (2022), a Master's from Université Catholique de Louvain (2015), and a B.A. from the University of Genoa (2013).

Her research explores gender disparities in corporate leadership, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and caregiving policies. Recent work includes studies on Ghanaian women entrepreneurs' WhatsApp networks and MBA student peer effects on leadership roles. She examines policy instruments like caregiver pension credits and maternity leave extensions to address gender gaps.
Truffa is an invited researcher at J-PAL's Science for Progress Initiative and a CESifo Research Network member. Previously, she served as a Lazear Liang Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford Graduate School of Business.
