Francesca Santoni is an Associate Professor at the Department of Modern Literature and Culture, Faculty of Literature and Philosophy, Sapienza University of Rome. Her academic career spans over 30 years, with expertise in Latin paleography, diplomatics, and manuscript culture analysis.
Education:
- Laurea in Letters (1986) - Sapienza University of Rome
- PhD in Diplomatics (1993) - Sapienza University of Rome
Specializing in medieval document analysis, her research focuses on manuscript transmission, legal writing practices, and historical document systems from late antiquity to the modern age. Current projects include the MeMo. Memory of Montecassino PRIN 2020 initiative and editorial board contributions to major archival journals.
Recent publications examine: cross-cultural codicology in Baroque Rome (2022); digital documentation systems (2020); and medieval legal processes in Rome (2015). Her work bridges traditional paleographic methods with digital humanities approaches.
