Francesca Palmiotto is an Assistant Professor of Law at IE University in Madrid, specializing in the intersection of law and technology. She holds a PhD from the European University Institute (EUI, 2023), an LL.M. from EUI (2018), and a combined Bachelor/Master in Law from the University of Turin (2017). Her research focuses on Human Rights and AI, algorithmic fairness in asylum processes, and post-pandemic legal governance.
- Co-led the 'Algorithmic Fairness for Asylum Seekers and Refugees' project at the Hertie School (Berlin, 2022–2024).
- Co-founder and chief editor of The Digital Constitutionalist (DigiCon).
- Contributed to journals like German Law Journal and Computer Law & Security Review.
Her work addresses SDGs 10 (Reduced Inequalities), 11 (Sustainable Cities), and 16 (Peace/Justice). She also maintains a Tech Litigation case-law database on automated decision-making.
