Francesca Mussi

Francesca Mussi is a Teaching Professor at the School of International Studies, University of Trento. She holds a PhD in International Law from the University of Milano-Bicocca (2017), a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Parma (2011), and was admitted to the Italian Bar in 2018. Her research focuses on protection of fundamental rights, international migration law, law of the sea, and access to justice in Africa. She has presented over 30 scholarly papers at international conferences, addressing topics like corporate sustainability due diligence, climate change governance, maritime migration, and gender dimensions in international law.

Recent work includes analyses on the EU’s proposed corporate due diligence directive’s implications for African environmental protection (2024), comparisons of EU and OECD approaches to combating greenwashing (2023), and the role of OECD guidelines in climate accountability (2023). She co-organized seminars on gender-based violence monitoring (2019) and Africa’s supranational courts (2019). Her presentations often bridge legal frameworks with transnational challenges, emphasizing practical applications of international law in migration control, environmental protection, and corporate responsibility.

Mussi’s scholarly activities span multiple regions, including collaborations with institutions in Africa, Europe, and Latin America. She actively contributes to debates on the legal complexities of irregular sea migration, the intersection of climate change and corporate accountability, and the evolving role of EU law in global governance. Her teaching and research reflect a commitment to integrating interdisciplinary perspectives and real-world legal challenges into academic discourse.
