معرفی
Francesca Barnaba is a Researcher at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (ISAC) under the National Research Council (CNR) in Rome, Italy. Her work focuses on aerosol characterization, integrating ground and space-based remote sensing with numerical models to study climate and air quality impacts.
Education
- Laurea in Physics magna cum laude (1999), University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’
- PhD in Remote Sensing (2003), University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’
Research Interests
Barnaba specializes in atmospheric composition, combining active/passive remote sensing and in situ instrumentation to analyze aerosol processes across local-to-regional scales. She investigates aerosol-climate interactions and air quality modeling, contributing to European and international networks like EUMETNET’s E-PROFILE.
Scientific Leadership
- Principal Investigator for Rome-Tor Vergata AERONET sunphotometer
- Scientific Coordinator of the Italian Lidar-Ceilometer Network (ALICENET)
- Co-coordinator of the CNR-ISAC branch Atmospheric Composition, Climate Forcing, and Air Quality (CAFCA) since 2018
Collaborations & Projects
She has participated in over 30 national and international projects funded by agencies such as MUR, ASI, UK-Met Office, EC, and EUMETSAT. Her recent roles include involvement in the COST InDust Action and Copernicus Space Economy activities on Air Quality.
