Francesc Xavier Alvarez Calafell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). His research focuses on thermal transport phenomena at the nanoscale, including phonon hydrodynamics, nonequilibrium thermodynamics, and nanomaterials like graphene and nanowires. He leads projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) and the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), such as the nanoDecoTEG initiative for thermoelectric microgenerators and studies on phonon hydrodynamics in van der Waals heterostructures.
