Frances Mair is the Norie Miller Professor of General Practice and Head of the School of Health and Wellbeing at the University of Glasgow’s College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences. She leads the Multimorbidity PhD Programme for Health Professionals and serves as NRS Primary Care Network Co-lead. Her research focuses on optimizing care for chronic illness and multimorbidity, emphasizing digital health and Minimally Disruptive Medicine (MDM). She holds visiting professorships at the Universities of Melbourne, Liverpool, and Southampton, and advises international networks like the Norwegian Primary Care Research Network and TROPHI (Australia).
Her work bridges clinical practice and policy, addressing implementation gaps through mixed-methods approaches. Key contributions include advancing MDM frameworks and evaluating digital interventions for self-management. Awards include Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers listings (2022–2023). Her leadership spans academic administration, global collaborations, and translational research initiatives.
Key projects include the Multimorbidity PhD Programme, DynAIRx (AI-driven prescribing optimization), and PHOENIx trials (homeless healthcare). She collaborates with institutions worldwide, emphasizing equity and integrated care models. Grants and funding support her work on treatment burden, frailty, and pandemic impacts on chronic disease management.
