Franc Meyer

Prof. Dr. Franc Meyer is a Full Professor at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Georg-August University Göttingen, where he has been a faculty member since October 2001. He leads an active research group focusing on fundamental inorganic and bioinorganic chemistry.

Research Interests: Prof. Meyer's research spans key areas in modern inorganic chemistry, with a strong emphasis on FeS clusters, small molecule activation (particularly water oxidation), organometallic catalysis, and molecular magnetism. His work often bridges synthetic inorganic chemistry with biological and energy-related applications, as seen in his leadership of research programs on metal sites in biomolecules and catalysis for sustainable synthesis.

He has been a spokesperson for major collaborative research programs (DFG IRTG 1422, CaSuS PhD program) and served on the DFG Senate and Review Boards. He has also been a member of advisory boards for the Max Planck Institutes for Bioinorganic Chemistry and Chemical Energy Conversion.

Editorial Roles: He has served on the editorial boards of several prestigious journals, including European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Inorganica Chimica Acta, Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry, and Magnetochemistry. He is an Associate Editor for the ACS journal Inorganic Chemistry (since 2013) and ACS Organic & Inorganic Au (since 2021), and an Advisory Board Member for Science China Chemistry.
