Her research explores how bilingualism affects grammar, semantics, and cognition in children and adults. Key themes include the relationship between language and non-linguistic cognition, bidirectional cross-linguistic influence, and the structure of meaning in Spanish copula verbs. She also investigates bilingualism's potential cognitive advantages, such as delayed onset of neurological disorders, and has conducted pioneering research on bilingualism and multiple sclerosis.
Recent publications analyze motion event encoding, verb-noun collocations, and MS-bilingualism interactions. Her work spans theoretical syntax, semantic acquisition, and applied bilingualism studies.
Fraibet teaches modules such as "Language and the Mind," "Child Language Development," and "Issues in Bilingualism" at the University of Reading. She emphasizes contemporary research in her teaching, including debates about bilingualism's cognitive benefits and their implications for education and therapy.
She is affiliated with the CeLM (Child Language and Multilingualism) research group, collaborating with institutions like Gregorio Marañón Hospital (Madrid) and scholars such as P. Athanasopoulos and J. Treffers-Daller. Her work bridges psycholinguistics, applied linguistics, and cognitive science.
