Dr Fotios Papadimitriou is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Finance and the Director of Research for the Finance Group at the University of Aberdeen Business School. He is also the Programme Leader for the MSc in Finance and Investment Management. Prior to joining Aberdeen in 2017, he was a Lecturer and MSc Programme Leader at Southampton Business School, UK.

- BSc in Mathematics (specialisation in Statistics & Operational Research), University of Ioannina, Greece
His research focuses on Empirical Asset Pricing and Applied Econometrics, particularly stock return predictability, asset price volatility, information demand in financial markets, and equity premium forecasting. His work integrates advanced econometric techniques to analyze market behavior and macro-finance linkages.
The most recent articles reflect a growing interest in climate risk and corporate finance, alongside continued contributions to market microstructure and predictive modeling. His publications span leading journals including the Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, and Journal of International Money and Finance.
Scientific Awards and Recognition:
- Semi-finalist for Best Paper Award in Investments, Financial Management Association (FMA) Annual Meeting, 2015
- Recipient of a full PhD research scholarship from Essex Business School (2003–2007)
Dr Papadimitriou has supervised multiple PhD students, several of whom have secured academic positions or roles in central banks. He serves as an Associate Editor for the European Journal of Finance (ABS 3*) and has held external roles such as External Examiner for SOAS, University of London (2016–2021). He is also an active referee for numerous international finance journals.
He teaches courses in Derivatives and Treasury Management and leads key postgraduate programs. Within the Business School, he holds leadership roles including Academic Line Manager and mentor to junior colleagues.
