Fotios Koumpouras

Fotios Koumpouras, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Rheumatology) at Yale School of Medicine, where he serves as Director of the Yale Lupus Program and Director of Education and Training in Rheumatology. His expertise lies in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), clinical trials, and rheumatology education. He leads a multidisciplinary team focusing on SLE care, research, and wellness, and has developed innovative programs such as the Yale Rheumatology-Biobank and the rheumatology-dermatology clinic. Dr. Koumpouras is actively involved in major SLE clinical trials, including those evaluating novel biologics and therapeutic targets.
