Dr. Fordjour Lawrence is a Clinical Assistant Professor at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics. He serves as the Director of the High-Risk Neurodevelopmental NICU Follow-up Clinic and Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Residency Program.

Dr. Lawrence’s research focuses on neonatal nutrition, gut immunology in preterm newborns, maternal and neonatal obesity, gestational diabetes effects on outcomes, and neurodevelopmental outcomes of preterm babies. He also leads global health initiatives to improve neonatal care in low- and middle-income countries.
His recent publications explore adverse outcomes linked to maternal obesity in inner-city populations, competency goals for residents, and antibiotic effects on gut-derived short-chain fatty acids in translational models.
