Flossie Chua is a Principal Investigator at Project Zero and an Instructor in Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her research focuses on transformative artistic practices, civic engagement in education, and global citizenship. She holds an Ed.D from Harvard University and specializes in developing frameworks for fostering critical thinking and creative problem-solving in learners.
Her work explores how transformative repair as an artistic practice supports communities during times of crisis, and how visual art can serve as a civic commons to empower youth. She collaborates with organizations like Art21 Educators and BroadBand Collaborative to integrate contemporary art into K-12 curricula and design reflective practices for musicians as community changemakers.
Key projects include Leading Learning That Matters, Arts as Civic Commons, and DELTA, which investigate cross-curricular learning, civic participation, and progressive pedagogical structures. She develops tools like Portable Knowledge and Global Thinking to enhance student engagement with complex societal issues.
Her contributions extend to educational leadership through frameworks addressing cognitive distortions in school systems and shared leadership models that support innovative teaching practices.
