Dr. Florian Noethen is a Researcher at the Department of Mathematics, University of Hamburg, within the Applied Mathematics group. His work focuses on dynamical systems, numerical analysis, and stability theory. He holds a PhD from the University of Hamburg (2016–2020), conducted a research stay at UNSW Sydney (2018), and completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in mathematics at UHH (2011–2016). His research investigates long-term behavior of dynamical systems, Lyapunov exponents, and covariant Lyapunov vectors. He contributes to projects like the Collaborative Research Center TRR 181 and the Research Training Group ENERGY.
Research Interests:
- Ordinary differential equations
- Asymptotic stability of non-stationary systems
- Numerical methods in ergodic theory
- Lyapunov exponents and vectors
Publications highlight advancements in computational dynamics, Hilbert space theory, and algorithmic stability analysis. He has served on hiring committees and steering groups for TRR 181 and ENERGY, and actively participates in interdisciplinary groups like the Lothar Collatz Center for Computing in Science.
Teaching includes courses on mathematical analysis, calculus, and ordinary differential equations at both UHH and TUHH.
