Florian Jäckel is a Researcher at Schloss Dagstuhl - Leibniz Center for Informatics since November 2023. He contributes to the dblp computer science bibliography project and leads the SmartER initiative, focusing on enhancing open repositories through affiliation data extraction. Previously, he held roles including a post-doctoral researcher in history at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2021–2023), a Digital Humanities Fellowship at Beth Mardutho – The Syriac Institute (2022), and earned a Dr. phil. in Islamic sciences from Universität Hamburg (2021).
His academic background includes studies in Catholic theology and Islamic sciences (Magister Artium, 2007–2014) at Tübingen and Beirut. His work bridges interdisciplinary fields, combining computer science with historical and religious studies through digital humanities methodologies.
Currently based at the University of Trier's Campus II office (H511-H517), he actively participates in advancing information systems and scholarly communication infrastructure. His projects emphasize open science and data interoperability, reflecting a commitment to both technical innovation and academic rigor.
