Florian Jentsch is a Professor and Department Chair of Psychology at the University of Central Florida (UCF), with a joint appointment at the Institute for Simulation & Training (IST). He leads UCF’s Team Performance Laboratory, established in 2001, focused on team dynamics, training systems, and human-technology interaction. His research spans human-robot interaction, aviation performance, and emergency response teams, supported by over $8 million in grants from agencies like the FAA, NSF, and Department of Homeland Security.
Dr. Jentsch holds a Ph.D. in Human Factors Psychology (1997) alongside graduate degrees in Aeronautical Science and Engineering. He previously served as Associate Dean for Research in the College of Sciences. His work emphasizes practical applications of cognitive science in high-stakes environments, including FAA-funded pilot training studies and Army-funded human-robot teaming projects.
